BARBARA ELAINE HELGELAND LARSON Barbara Larson of Thief River Falls, MN. passed away peacefully on Sept. 15, 2019, after a long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN from 1 – 3 PM with a time of sharing at 2:00 PM. Burial will be held at Bethany Church Cemetery rural Thief River Falls, MN.

Barbara was born to Berdeen Nornes and Alyce (Brossoit) on January 24, 1950, in Thief River Falls, MN. She attended elementary school at St. Bernard's in Thief River Falls and moved to Goodridge , MN., where she graduated from High school in 1968. After graduation she attended a Technical School in Moorhead. She moved back to TRF and worked for Artic Cat Barb married James Helgeland in 1976. They had a son, Scott James and became stepmother to Jim's sons Paul and Chad. They resided in Roseau where she worked at Marvin Windows for many years. Jim passed away in 2001. Barb married John Larson in 2005 and moved to Thief River Fall and became stepmother to Tracy and Crystal Larson and grandmother to Hailey and Ella.

Barb was happiest when she was with her grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting with people and had a great sense of humor. Written next to her photo in her high school yearbook was "life is one big party"

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband James Helgeland and stepson Tracy Larson.

She is survived by her son Scott Helgeland, step sons Chad and Paul, sisters Nancy Olson, Mary (Tom) Stoltman, Dianne (Dave) Myhrer, brother Mike Hemmestvedt and grandchildren Josie, Jessie, James, Grant, Gavin, Elizabeth, Paul, Christopher, Alicia, Hailey and Ella and her loving ex-husband John Larson, and his daughter Crystal.
