Barbara Ann Restad, 78, of Thief River Falls, died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at MeritCare Northwest Campus in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Barbara Ann Lehne was born in Audubon, MN on May 24, 1930 to Carl and Annie (Volden) Lehne. She was baptized and confirmed at the Audubon Lutheran Church and graduated from the Audubon High School in 1948. She attended Detroit Lakes Business College in 1949. On July 28, 1951 Barbara was united in marriage to Clayton Restad in Audubon, MN.

They made their home in Moorhead, MN before Clayton entered into service with the U.S. Army. They then moved to Kentucky for a short time before returning to Moorhead. In 1957 the couple moved to Thief River Falls where they have resided since. Barbara did general secretary work at the VA in Fargo and for the Dept. of Army in Kentucky. She also worked at Kramer-Brown MEA, Union State Bank, FHA, and Knox Elementary in Thief River Falls.

Barbara enjoyed baking, drinking coffee with the Hardeess girls, traveling, and spending time with family and grandchildren.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Hospital Auxiliary of Thief River Falls, MN.

Barbara is survived by her husband Clayton of 57 years; children Bruce Restad of Auburn, WA, Cindy Jo (Mike) Byron of Grand Forks, ND.; grandchildren Adam Byron and McKenzie Ann Byron; and brother Roger (Teresa) Lehne of Mahnomen, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Wally Bergeson.
