Obituary

Barry Schultz, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM in St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend David Laue Officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery near Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held Monday, 6 - 8 PM with a 7:30 PM prayer service at St. John Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Barry Matthew Schultz was born February 29, 1936 son of Matt and Frieda (Graefer) Schultz at Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended School in Winkler, Manitoba and the Manitoba Technical School in Winnipeg. He worked as a front end welder and maintenance welder for Majestic Pipeline Co. Barry taught welding at the Manitoba Technical School during the winter in 1958 - 1959. On November 11, 1956 he was united in marriage to Ruth Reimer at Winkler Manitoba, Canada. The couple lived in various places in Western Canada while he was working on the pipeline. In 1962 the family moved to Red Lake Falls where he joined his father in a family business. He also had a free-lance photography business. In 1974 Barry and Ruth opened Barry's Welding and Machine which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2013. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls where he sang in the choir and served as an Elder. He served on the Red Lake Falls Fire Department for 21 years and the Red Lake Falls City Council as councilman at large for 14 years. He was an honorary life member of the Pathfinders Snowmobile Club and served on the Red Lake Falls Economic Development Board and Board of Directors HRA Board. He was a member of the Oak Knolls Golf Club. Barry had a lifelong love of snowmobiling, camping and fishing with family and friends. Barry is survived by his wife Ruth of 59 years of Red Lake Falls, MN; children Denise Schultz of Victoria, MN, Wanda (Kent) Baril of Grand Rapids, MN and Joel (Linda) Schultz of Red Lake Falls, MN; grandchildren Elliot and Spencer (Fiance Megan Mielke) Stumpf, Hilary and Geoff Baril and Jacob and Ryan Schultz. He is preceded in death by his parents. Barry will be sadly missed by his family and friends. HONORARY PALLBEARERS: All of his grandchildren and Megan Mielke.
