OBITUARY NOTICE FOR BARTLETT SAGMOEN
THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN
Bartlett Bart Sagmoen, 84, died July 10, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Bartlett Woodrow Sagmoen was born October 26, 1919 at Rosewood, MN, the son of Charlie and Gerda (Johnson) Sagmoen. He was baptized and confirmed at Rindal Lutheran Church. He grew up in Rosewood, MN and attended Rosebank School. As a young man he hired out to area farms to help with farm work and then went to southern Minnesota to do farm work there. He also lived in Seattle and worked in the shipyards for a time.

Bart served his country during WW II. After serving his country, he worked with his brother, Byron in their Uncles business, Furans Lefse Bakery. After a few years, they left the bakery and went into business together doing many different types of work. They eventually formed a partnership as Sagmoen Brothers doing interior and exterior painting, staining, wallpapering, along with furniture repair and refinishing which they continued until retirement.

Bart loved music and played the guitar and mandolin. He also repaired guitars and violins as a hobby. He loved working with wood, having a special talent for carving out missing pieces of woodcarvings on the furniture and turning out spindles and legs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family. Bart was a fun loving person who always had a funny story to tell and was a member of the VFW in Thief River Falls.

Survived by brothers Byron (Jane) Sagmoen, Thief River Falls, Bordon (Edna) Sagmoen, Seattle, WA; sister Van Della (Walter) Chilstrom, Minneapolis; 4 nieces and 3 nephews.

Preceded in death by parents and 2 infant sisters.
