Beatrice Froelich of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Greenleaf Assisted living in Thief River Falls, MN.
Memorial service to celebrate Beatrice's life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the
Beatrice Daphne Froelich was born on October 25, 1920 only child of Alfred Edgar and Hannah Beata (Christiansen) Wolter at Aberdeen, SD. They later moved to Fargo, ND and Dilworth, MN where she met Leo Froelich in 1936. She graduated from Dilworth High School in 1938.
On November 4, 1939 Beatrice was united in marriage to Leo Froelich. Their only child Diane Gay Froelich was born September 5, 1942. Beatrice and Diane joined Leo when he moved to Vandalia, OH while serving in the Air Force. Following his service, they purchased the Ford, Mercury, Lincoln dealership at LaMoure, ND and moved there in April of 1945. They purchased the Gamble Store in LaMoure and Bea worked in the furniture and gift shop. They built Leo Froelich Feed Mill in 1962 and Bea was the bookkeeper.
They purchased the Alfalfa Plant in Thief River Falls and moved there in April 1974. They continued to run both businesses until they were both sold in 1982. They then took a 4 ½ month trip around the world and visited 17 countries. They traveled to 98 countries. She was a volunteer at the hospital gift shop every Wednesday for 15 years. They came back to enjoying fishing in Minnesota and their place in Canada and continued their traveling. Leo passed away December 31, 1990 at their home. They were married 51 years. She moved to Summerfield Place in Thief River Falls and was the Queen Mother of our Red Hat Group for 12 years. In April of 2014 she moved to Greenleaf Assisted Living until her passing.
She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader while in LaMoure and they were members of Holy Rosary Church at LaMoure where she was very active. She also golfed, bowled, joined a homemaker group and birthday group there and was a member of the golf club. The couple moved to Thief River Falls; they were members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. She loved to play bridge and spending time with family and friends.
Beatrice leaves behind her daughter Diane (Kenneth) Riddle of LaMoure, ND; grandchildren Scott (Amy) Riddle of Pella, IA and Kristen (Justin) Carlson of The Dalles, OR; great-grandchildren Abigale Caroline, Isabella Beatrice and Alexander Leo, Chance and Hanna; nieces and nephews Frank Froelich, Karen Froelich, Marilyn Beckstrom, and Bob Fitzgerald. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo, parents and nephew Allen Fitzgerald.
