Beatrice "Bea" Wilson, 92, Goodridge, MN died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be 2 PM, Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Telemarken Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, MN with Reverend Arlen Hermodson and Reverend Raynard Huglen officiating. Burial will be at Telemarken Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 " 8 PM, Friday, May 19, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Saturday.
Beatrice Wedul was born April 4, 1914 in Mayfield Township, southeast of Thief River Falls. She was the sixth child of Ole and Merit (Strand) Weduls eight children. She was baptized in the Christian Faith at home and confirmed at Ebenezer Church with brother, Melvin. She attended Mayfield Township School and graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, in 1931. At the age of 17, Bea took Teachers Training and age 18, began teaching in area country schools, Hickory Township and Meadowlark School in Kratka Township.
On February 14, 1939, Bea was united in marriage to Sidney Walter Wilson. For the first two years of marriage, Bea continued to teach. During WWII the couple moved to Berkley, CA for a couple of years. They returned to Minnesota in 1944, and purchased land in Kratka Township. They established the family farm from the ground up, where they raised their four children. On the farm they raised dairy cows, beef cattle, chickens, pigs, horses, and grain for 30 years.
After retiring, the couple began wintering in Arizona. When Sidney died in 1986, they had been married 47 years. Bea began working at Pioneer Village and worked there for many years. Up until the present time, she had been residing on the farm, enjoying her family, friends and gardening.
She has given of her time and talents in many ways, including teaching Sunday School for 30 years, 4-H leader and member for 25 years. She was active in church work and is a member of Telemarken Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Homemakers Club and since 1962, a charter member of the Moccasin Garden Club and also a member of the Nature Belles Club. Flower gardening and show competition were her passion. She also was an avid reader. In 1996, she was awarded Pennington County Outstanding Senior Citizen.
Bea is survived by 3 children, Bernie (Marilyn) Wilson, Cedar, MN, Jon (Mary) Wilson, Goodridge, MN and Dianne Wilson, Shoreview, MN; 11 grandchildren, Jeff Neeser, Greg Neeser, Joanie Schnetzer, James Wilson, Cally Delage, Cody Swanson, Adam Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Luke Wilson, Shelly Anderson and Carrie Ninke; 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Sidney, son, James Wilson, parents, Ole and Merit Wedul, sisters, Anna Waale and Johanna Wedul, brothers, Arnt, Oscar, Melvin, Martin and Vernon Wedul
