Benjamin Weigelt Moorhead, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, 28, died from complications of cardiac arrest on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Benjamin John Weigelt was born on November 15, 1984 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN to William and Kimberly (Jones) Weigelt. He was baptized on December 10, 1989 and confirmed in May of 2002 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. Ben attended St. Bernard's Elementary School, Franklin Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 2003. During school, Ben participated in the hockey and baseball programs and enjoyed spending time with his teammates and friends in the "Loozer Lounge." After high school, he coached youth baseball for several years. Ben was part of the 2006 North Dakota State Curling championship team which took his team to compete in the Curling Nationals in Superior, WI. He loved golfing and was a member of the Village Green Golf Course in Moorhead. He enjoyed deer hunting and spending time at deer camp at the blue Viking bus four miles from Viking, MN with his family and friends. Ben also enjoyed umpiring baseball games in the Fargo/Moorhead area and in Thief River Falls; and he especially liked coming home to be with his family. Ben was great with people, had a great sense of humor and was known for his famous "Ben bear hug". On October 4, 2004, Ben started dating his future wife, Amanda Timm. The couple were married on July 11, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. They made their home in Fargo, ND for about one year and together purchased their home in Moorhead, MN in October of 2010. In 2011 they adopted their black lab, Maggie who Ben spoiled & adored; and in 2012 enjoyed a delayed honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with many of their friends. He worked at the American Legion in Thief River Falls and since 2006 has worked at Speedway Restaurant & Event Center in West Fargo, ND. Survivors include his loving wife of 3 years, Amanda of Moorhead, MN; parents, Kim & Ron Kalinoski and Bill Weigelt; brothers, Nick (Kensie Haugen) Kalinoski and Jake (Jenna McDonald) Kalinoski all of Thief River Falls; sister, Heather (Ryan) Mullen and their children Joby & Brendan Mullen all of Grand Forks, ND; grandparents, Joni Jones and Vic & Lila Kalinoski; father & mother-in-law, Terry & Linda Timm all of Thief River Falls; and many other relatives and friends. Ben is preceded in death by an infant sister, Brandy; grandparents, L.L. Jones "Jonesy", Walter & Margaret Weigelt, and Vie Kalinoski.
