Bernard Luverne Myers was born March 5, 1921 at Faulkton, SD, the son of David C. and Edna (Schilling) Myers. He was baptized and confirmed at Silver Creek Lutheran Church. In 1936, his family moved to the Excel Township, MN area near Thief River Falls, MN.
On July 16, 1944, Bernard was united in marriage to Lucille Jeanette Williams at Silver Creek Lutheran Church. After marriage he entered the United States Army, serving in the infantry from January, 1945 until October, 1946. His service took him to the Philippines and Yokohama, Japan. He returned home after the service to make his home on the farm in North Township, Pennington County, MN.
In 1976, Bernard quit farming and then worked as a custodian in Thief River Falls, mostly at Washington School and also St. Bernards School and Church. He retired in 1983 and moved to Roy Lake, MN, where he worked as a machinist and retired from that in 1990. The couple moved back to Thief River Falls in 1997.
Bernard held offices at Silver Creek Lutheran Church, Nee Gon Nee Church, North Township Board, and the Pennington County Fair Board. He was inducted to the 4-H alumni, 4-H Hall of Fame and the FFA. He was active with childrens activities, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed music, and played the harmonica and violin. He also sang and whistled for the residents at CNC.
Survived by wife, Lucille, Thief River Falls, MN, Harold (Marian), Thief River Falls, MN, Charlotte (Craig) Pladson, Ramsey, MN, Charlene (Bob) Kramlinger, Oakdale, MN, Jerald (Tobey), Thief River Falls, MN, Eldon, Thief River Falls, MN, Daryl (Kathy), Kennewick, WA; 12 grandchildren, Cindy (Matt) Olson, Candy (Donald) Flower, Craig (Sara) Pladson Jr., Kim (Lee) Hamre, Allison (Tony) Miramontes, Erica Myers, Matt Myers, Ben Myers, Lindsay (Shane) Morinville, Kayla Myers, Shaun Kramlinger and Stefanie Kramlinger; 6 great grandchildren, DJ Flower, Jr., Cody Flower, Chanel Flower, Samatha Olson, Alexis Pladson and Dahlila Morinville.
Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Arnold and Donald and sisters, Inez Johnson and Retta Hedland.
