Bernice Lasha, 93, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, ND, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her funeral service at Johnson Funeral Service. Bernice (Vigness) Lasha was born December 7, 1919 at Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Gabriel O. and Tina (Efteland) Vigness. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended elementary school in Thief River Falls and in 1937, she graduated from Lincoln High School. Bernice then went to work at Woolworths and Sears mail order in Thief River Falls. She was manager of the in-store mail order department at Montgomery Ward's, Thief River Falls, where she worked for 18 years. On May 3, 1948, Bernice was united in marriage to Clement "Buzz" Lasha in Seattle, WA. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. To this union a son, Paul was born. They enjoyed a good, healthy marriage. Bernice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN. She enjoyed work and caring for her father. She also liked to fish and she and Buzz enjoyed many trips to the coasts. Bernice very much enjoyed having coffee with friends. She is survived by son, Paul (Mary) Lasha, Fargo, ND; granddaughters, Jessica (Ryan) Diederich, Fargo, ND, Jennifer Lasha, Denver, CO, and Jamie Lasha, Fargo, ND; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Buzz in 1992; her parents; 4 sisters, Belle Lass, Vermillion, SD, Gladys Odegaard, Thief River Falls, MN, Clara Larson, Thief River Falls, MN and Frances Parr, Bellingham, WA.
