Bernice Westman, 85, died on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the Marshall Manor Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN.
Bernice Elvera Dahl was born on September 1, 1919 in West Valley Township, Marshall County, near Strandquist, MN, the daughter of Samuel A. and Clara E. (Holmstrom) Dahl. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith and attended Woodland Country School.
Bernice was united in marriage to Clarence L. H. Westman on June 12, 1941 by Reverend Myhrer at the Parsonage. The couple lived at Argyle for a few years. In 1948 they purchased the family farm in West Valley Township, Marshall County. Bernice worked at Arctic Cat for 12 years, but loved being a Homemaker and farm wife. Clarence passed away on June 9, 1985.
She loved her flowers and always had a big garden, played guitar, enjoyed crocheting, singing with the church group and her sister, Adeline, visiting with friends and talking with friends on the telephone. Bernice also loved quilting and donated many quilts to church.
She was a member of New Hope Church and was active in Ladies Aid and Bible Study.
Bernice is survived by four children: Janice McCullough of Eagan, MN, Lyle and Val Westman of Warren, MN, Byron and Connie Westman of Wadena, MN and DelRay Westman and fianc, Kristi Keeping of Newfolden, MN; 16 grandchildren: Lori McCullough, Eagan, MN, Bradley McCullough of Lindstrom, MN, Boyd Westman and fianc, Becky Erber of Devils Lake, ND, Kristine Westman of Minot, ND, Brian and Heather Westman of Montevideo, MN, Denise and Michael Awn of Denver, CO, Stacy Westman of Wadena, MN, Angela Westman of Fargo, ND, Michelle and Matt Simpson of St. Cloud, MN, David Westman of Wadena, MN, Jeremy Westman of Newfolden, MN, Tracie Westman Jessica Westman, Carol Westman, Nicole Westman and Raymond Westman; 6 great grandchildren: Amber McCullough and Amanda McCullough of Eagan, MN, Tristan and Addison Pickar of Wadena, MN, Avery Awn of Denver, CO and Abigail Westman of Montevideo, MN; one brother, Clifford (Adeline) Dahl of St. Paul, MN; two sisters: Adeline Stennes of Thief River Falls, MN and Norella Donarski of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; parents, Samuel and Clara Dahl; brother, Kenneth Dahl; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
