Beth Scholin Thief River Falls, MN, age 91, died on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria, MN with her loving family at her side. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Abundant Life Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend LeRoy Flickinger officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the Church with a 10:00 AM time of Sharing. Beth Beatrice Thorstad was born January 28, 1922 on the family farm in Sanders Township, Pennington County, MN, the daughter of Bert N. and Myrtle Iva (Borden) Thorstad. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN, in April 1922 by Reverend Sweger and confirmed at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church in 1936. She attended Pennington County rural schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943. She attended and graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, in 1956. Beth taught Home Economics at Lincoln High School and Our Saviour's Christian Academy, Thief River Falls. She was once married to George Pound. On December 27, 1961, Beth was united in marriage to C. Maurits Scholin in Thief River Falls. Beth was a member of Abundant Life Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN, where she taught Sunday school, volunteered at the church, raised funds and volunteered for Our Saviour's Christian Academy, as well as working at the Heritage Center. She liked to travel, camp, sew, read, garden and fish. Mostly she enjoyed being with family. She is survived by sons: Wayne (Katherine) Pound, Denver, CO and John (Laura) Scholin, Fargo, ND; daughter: Theresa Melina, San Diego, CA; grandchildren: Jessica Cloward, Zachary Pound, Robert Houle, Jeffery (Julie) Lacey, Brandon (Megan) Scholin, Natasha (Chris Corley) Scholin, Jessica Beth Scholin, Naomi (Chris) Willden and Taylor Alford; great grandchildren, Tristen Cloward, Whisper Cloward, Dante Cloward, Riddik Pound, Devin Muir, Katherine Houle, Savanna Houle, Tyler Houle, Jazmin Richardson, JaKari Scholin, JaKinley Scholin-Corley, MaRyah Adams, Stephe Adams, Grayson Scholin; 3 sisters: Merilla Swenson, Thief River Falls, MN, Mylis Jennings, Hot Springs, AR and Iva Hayes, Alexandria, MN; brothers, Bert (Ardith) Thorstad, Prescott Valley, AZ and John Thorstad, Thief River Falls, MN; sisters-in-law, Edna Thorstad, in CA, and Lillian Thorstad in FL. Beth is preceded in death by husbands, George Pound and Maurits Scholin; grandson, Christopher Scholin, parents and brothers, Herbert and James Thorstad; brothers-in-law, Melvin Swenson, Bob Hayes, Lyle Jennings and sister-in-law Millie Thorstad.
