Betty DeHaan of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 84.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN.

Betty Mae Everding was born on February 4, 1932 at home in Buffalo Center, IA, the daughter of Albert and Mae (Ahlfs) Everding. She attended school in Buffalo Center and later moved to Forest City, IA.

On June 19, 1956 Betty was united in marriage to Gerard "Gerry" DeHaan in Forest City. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls, MN. In 1971 they moved to Thief River Falls, MN, along with their two children, Debra and Michael.

Betty worked very hard all of her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, crafting, letter writing, painting, cooking, and baking.

Betty was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Legion Auxiliary. She also belonged to a homemakers group and loved to volunteer her time with other various groups. Betty was an active lifetime member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church.

Betty will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Gerard "Gerry" of Thief River Falls, MN; daughter Debra (Jerry) Breiland of Bozeman, MT; son, Michael (Alona) DeHaan of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Madison and Callie Breiland, and Michael DeHaan Jr.; sister-in-law, Barbara Everding of Mason City, IA; nephews, Kenneth and David Everding; along with several cousins, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mae Everding and her brother, Alvin Everding.
