Betty Franks was born February 2, 1921 at Viceroy, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Loren and Esther (Northrop) Franks. She was 6 years old when the family moved to Minneapolis, MN. At age 8, the family moved to Plummer, MN and when she was 16, they moved to Thief River Falls where she has since resided.

She was united in marriage to Levern E. Dow on March 3, 1939 in Thief River Falls, MN.

Betty worked at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls as CNA in Pediatrics for 13 years. She enjoyed knitting, flowers and playing Aggravation.

Survived by daughters, Marylin L. Erickson and Sandra K. Griffin, both Roseau, MN; son, Larry L. (Marijeanne) Dow, Arlington Heights, IL; sisters, Louise (David) Wiley and Esther (Joe) Auge, all Donna, TX; brother, Larry Franks, Washington; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; special niece, Lenore (Don) Brown and children, Linda, Mike and Pam and 23 other nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Virgine Lanska, Hibbing, MN.

Preceded in death by husband, Levern in 1980; parents and mother-in-law, Ruth Dow.
