Obituary

Betty Engelstad, died at her home in Thief River Falls on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held 5-7, Friday, June 15, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday. Betty Lou Craft was born on December 1, 1929 to Harry and Ruth (Westerlund) Craft at Plummer, MN. She grew up in Plummer. Attended school and graduated from Plummer School. She then attended costmetology school in Minneapolis, MN. On September 17, 1949, Betty was united in marriage to James Jerome Engelstad in Plummer, MN. They moved to a farm in Rockbury Township, Pennington County where they raised their family. Betty helped around the farm. She worked at Arctic Cat in the 1970's. She then worked for the Best Western Hotel for several years retiring in 2005. She moved into Riverside Terrace two years ago. Betty's focus was family. She had a great sarcastic sense of humor. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by three children: Kim (Deb Thorpe) Engelstad, Thief River Falls, MN, Kristi Rumely, Silverton, OR, and John (Shanna) Engelstad, Thief River Falls, MN, grandchildren: Ben Engelstad, Leo "Marty" (Jennifer) Rumely, Annie Engelstad, Erik Engelstad, and Shay Engelstad, Tyler Thorpe, Abby Thorpe, great grandchildren: Leo Rumely and Aziah Engelstad, Kemper Engelstad, James Engelstad, and Lucas Engelstad. She was preceded in death by her husband James Engelstad in 2003, brother Leroy Westerlund, and her parents.
