Obituary

Betty Molstad, Thief River Falls, age 90, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Eventide at Fairmont, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 8, 2017 at Silver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Ale Tulu officiating.  Burial will be at Silver Creek Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with a prayer service at 7 PM.  Visitation will also be one hour prior to service at the church Friday.

Betty Lou Molstad was born July 30, 1927 in St. Hilaire, MN, the daughter of Rupert and Anna Nelson. Betty's mom died when she was 1 ½ and was raised by Oliver and Mildred Haugen.

Betty graduated from Lincoln High and was married to Clebert (Bud) Molstad on November 7, 1948 at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, MN. They made their home on the Molstad family farm in Steiner Township and continued farming until 1984. To this union three children were born, Earl, Linda, and Rodney. In 1964, they moved to Thief River Falls.

Betty worked for Arctic Cat for many years. She belonged to Silver Creek Church, the VFW, and the Eagles. Betty enjoyed dancing, bingo, socializing, and shopping.

Survivors include 3 children Earl (Catherine) Molstad of Gleason, WI, Linda (Bert ) Hester of Ewardsville, IL and Rodney (Barbara Hanson) Molstad of Moorhead, MN; 5 grandchildren, Darwin, Maureen, Michelle, Jerrod, Stephanie; 3 step-grandchildren Ann Marie, Pamela, and Heather; granddaughter in law, Cassandra; 19 great grandchildren Kaitlin, Krysta, Jamie, Evan, Abby, Corbett, Allison, Thomas, Emma, Carson, Clint, Ashton, Brandi, Daine, Cole, Zander, Connor, Kiley, and Summer; 1 great-great-grandchild, Isabella; half-sister, Evangeline Streter; 4 sisters-in-law, Sharon Molstad of Thief River Falls, MN, Betty Woolman of CA, Dorothy Johnson of Grand Forks, ND, and Marlys Molstad of Grand Forks, ND; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Clebert (Bud) Molstad, parents Rupert and Anna Nelson, grandson, Chad, brothers Herbert, Carl, and Ronnie; sister's Bernice Keksi and Helen Lancette.

Betty Molstad died on Sunday at the Fairmont memory unit in her sleep surrounded by her loving family at the age of 90 years young.
