Betty Eunice Murphy was born February 14, 1936 in Warroad, MN, the daughter of James Albert and Ruth Christine (Stenbraaten) Murphy. She attended school through the 10 th grade and after school lived in various communities including Badger, Strathcona, Gully, Bagley and most recently in Thief River Falls.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, sewing, volunteering, working in her flower beds and gardening. Her favorite flowers were roses and lilacs; Betty's favorite color was purple; favorite scripture is Psalm 23; favorite poem is Footprints; and she wants her family and friends to remember her for her love for each one of them. Betty also wants her family and friends to know she lived to please Jesus and prepared herself to be ready when he comes.
Betty's message for her family and friends are found in the words of " God Knows Best " by Helen Steiner Rice: God knows best so never complain, for "The Pain of Today" is "Tomorrow's Great Gain." For while we suffer in a physical way, our Spirit grows stronger from day to day; and each trial we suffer and every shed tear, just gives us new strength to persevere. As we "Climb" the "Steep Hills" along life's way that lead us at last to that wonderful day where the "Cross" we have carried becomes a "Crown" and at last we can lay our burden down.
On February 14, 1980, Betty was united in marriage to Harry William Gust.
