Betty Jean Otten, 58, of Oklee, MN formerly of Anoka, MN passed away suddenly on Friday, August 30, 2019 at her home in Oklee, MN.

Memorial service will be announced later.

Betty Jean VanGilder was born July 5, 1961 in Bourbonnais, Illinois the daughter of Harold and Charlene (Olson) VanGilder. She attended schools in Illinois.

In 1980, Betty was united in marriage to Marlin Hall and to this union a lovely, wonderful, beautiful, sweet daughter was born, Kelly. They lived in Salem, Illinois and eventually were divorced. Betty and Kelly moved to Anoka County, MN to be closer to family.

On May 16, 2009, Betty was united in marriage to Donald Otten and they made their home in Anoka. On September 2, 2018 they moved to Oklee, MN where they have continued to reside.

She enjoyed crocheting, baking, taking care of her dogs, Baby & Duncan. She had a wonderful, caring personality. Betty would do anything she could to help others if she could; she had a heart of gold.

Survivors include her husband, Donald of Oklee; daughter, Kelly (Jesse) Norton of Isanti, MN; grandchildren, Cassie & Cody; mother, Charlene in Normal, IL; siblings, Bob (Deb) VanGilder, Barb (Lee) Scanlon, Bertha (Tom) Crowell, Harold VanGilder, Misty (Allen) Schmidtz-VanGilder; and many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her dad, Harold; and brother, Russ Johnson-VanGilder.
