Obituary

Beulah Jane Vad, 82, of rural Oklee, MN, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, surrounded by her family at home.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 22, 2023, from 5 to 7 PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be held at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 11 AM, and visitation from 10 to 11AM.

Burial will be in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN.

On November 20, 1940, Beulah was born to Olaf and Beatrice (Bammerud) Stolaas at Thief River Falls, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Oak Park Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN. Beulah attended Pleasant View, District #34, a country school near her home, and graduated in 1958 from Northwest School of Agriculture High School (currently UMC) in Crookston, MN.

On December 27, 1958, Beulah was united in marriage to Lester Vad at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN. They had two children—Julie and Gary. They lived in Grand Forks, ND, Minot, ND, and Hibbing, MN, before moving to the family farm in the fall of 1968. Beulah ran a ceramic business that included teaching classes for 20 years in her home. She began working at Artic Cat in the sewing department for several years and retired in 2005. From 2005 to 2022, Beulah and Lester spent their winters in Apache Junction, AZ.

Knitting, embroidery, sewing clothes for her children, Barbie clothes, and quilting kept her busy. The quilts were given to the family as gifts to remember her, as well as to mission church activities. Beulah was an active member at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. In 2013, Beulah was awarded Top Aggie Award during the annual reunion.

Beulah is survived by her husband, Lester, Oklee, MN; son, Gary, Oklee, MN; daughter, Julie (Mitchell) Dicken, Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren: Bryan Arveson, Craig Arveson, Alec (Melanie) Dicken, Alli (Steven) Lyseng; great-grandchildren: Alea, Lindsey, Steven, and Charlie; brother, Orlan Stolaas, Oklee, MN; cousin, nephews, and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Beatrice Stolaas.
