Beverly Ann Haugen was born on February 6, 1939 in Pennington County, near Plummer, MN, the daughter of Gerhard Christian and Louisa Geneva Maria (Lennie) Haugen. She was baptized in April of 1939 at Clearwater Lutheran Church by Pastor Dahle and confirmed on May 23, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor Jacobson. She attended Northrop and Knox Elementary Schools in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1957. Following High School, Beverly enrolled in the L.P.N. Nursing Program at the Thief River Falls Area Vocational School, graduating in 1958.
Beverly was united in marriage to Thomas Gustafson on July 19, 1958 at St. Bernards Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls and Beverly worked at the Falls Theater, Norris Melander Agency, Northwestern Hospital and the Inter-County Nursing Service, where she was employed for 14 ½ years.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, walking and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Altar Guild, taught Sunday School, served on the church council, sang in the church choir and was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Tom; four children: Marci Ann Lull of Bemidji, MN, Vicki Diane (David) De Koeyer of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, Kathi Lynne (Scott) Sorter of Sioux Falls, SD and Cory Thomas (Dawn) Gustafson of Thief River Falls, MN; five grandchildren: Jamie Kevin Lull, Amber Kaye Sorter, Trent Thomas Sorter, Dylan Thomas Gustafson and Tyson Marshall Gustafson; four brothers: Christian (Mary Lu) Haugen of Eureka, SD, Richard (Janice) Haugen of Thief River Falls, MN, Mark ( Holly) Haugen of Thief River Falls, MN and James ( Penny) Haugen of Thief River Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Gerhard Christian and Louisa Geneva Maria Haugen; her grandparents, David and Caroline Omoth Haugen and Louie and Mary Norman Lennie; one sister, Diane Marie Jorstad; two sisters-in-law, Mary Gustafson and Beverly Fisher; and brother-in-law, Ralph Jorstad
