Beverly Lyons, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Greenleaf Assisted Living in Thief River Falls, MN, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN, with Reverend Gary Graff Officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, May 30, 2016, with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral service in Red Lake Falls. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Beverly Lyons was born April 18, 1930 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Joseph Scheiblauer and Ernestine (Litzenberg). Her mother passed away when Bev was 4 years old. She grew up quickly, learning to take care of the cooking and cleaning for her dad and 2 older brothers - Bruce and Joseph. After her father remarried she gained a step-brother, Dick. In Elementary school she learned how to Swedish embroider, which was something she enjoyed to do the rest of her life.
She met her husband, Henry Skala while working at the local drug store in St. Paul. In October of 1947 they were united in marriage. The couple returned to Red Lake Falls and lived on the family farm where they raised their four children - Joseph, Eugene, Kathleen, and Karen.
In 1964 she moved to Miles City, MT, where she was united in marriage to Vince Lyons. They lived in Chehalis, WA. Bev graduated from Centralia College with a BS at the age of 55. She then went on to cosmetology school in Tacoma, WA, and later owned and operated a beauty salon.
Beverly enjoyed fancy cooking, baking, decorating, flowers, and sewing. She loved watching the hummingbirds from her many feeders. She loved the ocean.
Beverly is survived by her children, Eugene (Judy) Skala of Red Lake Falls, MN, Kathleen Skala of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Karen (Mike) Knott of Red Lake Falls, MN; 7 grandchildren, Elizabeth Skala, Anna (Bryce) Weisbeck, Adam (special friend Grace Matz) Skala and Natasha Skala, Kristin (special friend Colby Scheneman) Knott, Ben Knott, and Christopher Knott; 3 great-grandchildren Jordyn, Mya, and Jaxon; step-brotherm, Dick (Karen) Evans of Chicago, IL; along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Henry and Vincent; parents; infant son; son Joseph; and brothers, Joseph and Bruce.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Minnesota Greenleaf Staff and aids for their special care.
