Bianka Helga Richards passed away unexpectedly on October 4, 2026, leaving behind a loving family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Bianka was born on February 8, 1972, in Trier, Germany, to Alfred and Danuta (Kurowski) Hermes. She grew up in Binsfeld, Germany, alongside her younger sister, Vanessa. She attended grade school in Binsfeld, Wittlich, and Speicher, where she graduated.

A few years later, Bianka made the journey to the United States, where she began building her life and her family. She was blessed with two children, her daughter Caroline and, years later, her son Matthew. Bianka worked as a CNA for a time before choosing to become a stay-at-home mother, dedicating herself to caring for her children. She made the holidays especially enjoyable, always decorating. Bianka also loved taking pictures, capturing special moments and memories with the people she loved.

Bianka resided in Warroad for approximately a decade before moving to southern Minnesota. She eventually made her home in Thief River Falls, where she spent the remainder of her life.

Bianka was a quiet and caring person who valued the people close to her. She was blessed with many friends, including a few loyal friends whom she held especially dear. But of all the roles she had in life, her favorite was undoubtedly being a gramdma.

Bianka adored her grandchildren and took great joy in being part of their lives. She would never miss a birthday or holiday and could always be counted on to send a card. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and making sure they knew they were loved.

Bianka will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, sister, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and especially in the lives of the grandchildren who meant so much to her.

Bianka is survived by her children, Caroline (Travis) Richards and Matthew Richards; her grandchildren, Kenton, Neriah, and Koen Kingbird; and her sister, Vanessa (Markus) Hüwels, along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Danuta Hermes. Also, gandparents Anton and Helene Kurowski and Nikolaus and Susanne Hermes.
