Blaine Turner, 80, of Mentor, MN died on Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Arrangements with Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2001 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN at 3:00 PM with Reverend Sylvia Jerdee Officiating.

Blaine Thorvold Turner was born March 17, 1920 at Mott ND son of Allen and Thea Turner. He was raised in the Mott area and at the age of 17 moved with his family to Mentor, MN area. He worked for Pete Sebenaler before joining the US Army. He served during WWII. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Mentor. He farmed and drove school bus. On February 7, 1942 he was united in marriage to Billie Grover at Mentor, MN. Blaine moved to Bloomington, MN where he worked for Alles Chalmers, was a salesman for Vermeer and the digging Dutchman. He also drove truck and worked as a mechanic. Blaine also worked as a construction foreman on the iron range.
On October 30, 1980 Blaine was united in marriage to Beverly Rhode at Crookston, MN. They owned and operated Turners Tavern and Riverside Tavern in Jacobson, MN from 1973 until 1983. In 1986 he returned to Mentor where he enjoyed tinkering with small and large engines. He liked watching westerns and did odd jobs at Maple Lake. He was a jack of all trades and helped with maintenance for the city of Mentor.
He is survived by his daughter Fern Toutgas of Forrest Lake, MN; grandchildren Steven St. John and Sabrina Toutgas. Step children Debra Rhode of Mentor, MN; Gary Rhode of Missouri, Jeff Rhode (Colleen) of Helena, MT; grandchildren Megan and Kristen Rhode, Tracy (Todd) Allrich, Bob Rhode, Jim Rhode. Daughter-in-law Claire Toulibaski of Crookston, MN. One sister Leora Erickson of Minneapolis, MN, sisters-in-law Freda Stanley of Washington, Crystal Derosier of SilverBay, MN and Doris Roberts of Mentor, MN. Many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Blaine is preceded in death by his parents, son Steven Turner, stepson Rodney Rhode, brothers Maurice Turner and Glen Turner and sister Gladys Cowan.
