Obituary

Bonita "Bonnie" Aaseby Thygeson of Thief River Falls, MN age 59 died on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with her loving family at her side. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Bonita Aaseby will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM on Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church. Bonita LuAnn Bruggeman was born on November 8, 1955 in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of LeeRoy and Ferne (Jarshaw) Bruggeman. She was baptized in the Catholic faith and grew up in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls with the class 1974. On January 21, 1972 Bonnie was united in marriage to Hjalmar Vern Iver Aaseby and to this union two sons were born, Hjalmar Timothy and Terry Vern. They lived at Ft. Gordon, GA for two years while Vern was stationed there and then returned to live in Thief River Falls. The couple was divorced in 1980. Bonnie worked at several places in Thief River Falls including Arctic Cat, until it closed in 1980, Lon's Restaurant, Country Kitchen and Future Fuels. In 1987, Bonnie returned to Arctco, which is known today as Arctic Cat, where she worked in various departments, most recently as a fork-lift engineer. She finished her workday on Monday, April 6, 2015 and suffered a massive heart attack when she returned home. In December of 1981, Bonnie met the love of her life, Mike Thygeson, and the couple became "Soul Mates". They have been inseparable in their personal lives. Bonnie became secretary for Thygeson Construction following the death of Wenda Thygeson in 1999. Bonnie also enjoyed helping her mother, Ferne, with Bruggeman Catering. Bonnie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary in Thief River Falls. Bonnie enjoyed traveling, especially going to Las Vegas and staying at the El Cortezher home away from home. She was known as the "Queen Of The Five Spot". Bonnie was a very ambitious person and would help others any way that she could. Most of all, Bonnie enjoyed cook-outs and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed making people laugh and had an infectious sense of humor. Survivors include the love of her life, Mike Thygeson of Thief River Falls; sons, Tim (Joy) Aaseby of Arthur, ND and Terry (Michelle) Aaseby of Charlotte, NC; 7 grandchildren, Isaiah, Josiah, Katie and Nicholas Aaseby, Trevor, Savannah and Audrey Aaseby; mother, Ferne Bruggeman; siblings, Debra "Slim" Bruggeman, Randall (Georgi) Bruggeman and Robert Bruggeman all of Thief River Falls, and Cynthia Bruggeman of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Tracy Bruggeman of Thief River Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her father, LeeRoy; brothers, Tim and Reginal "Reggie"; and Jarshaw and Bruggeman grandparents.
