Obituary

Bonnie Kaml, known to her friends and family as “Ant B”, a cherished chef, beloved mother, and creative spirit, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Saint Hilaire, Minnesota. Born on August 7, 1963, in Warren, Minnesota, Bonnie touched many lives with her warm hospitality, food, and vibrant personality.

A talented chef, Bonnie had a remarkable career preparing food for several well-known restaurants, including Kife's, Lantern, Country Kitchen, Best Western, Melody's, Seven Clans Casino restaurant, Dawg House, and Wired Bean. Her culinary talents extended beyond the kitchen as she catered events alongside her sister, Toni, in the Thief River Falls area for many years. Her creativity in cooking paralleled her artistic pursuits, which included heating glass rods to create beautiful beads and a passion for jewelry making.

Bonnie was also a tremendous reader, always eager to dive into new adventures through the pages of her favorite books. She had a profound love for animals, particularly her dog, Augie, cats, Speck, Pip, Blindy, Blinky, her two grand dogs, Rylie and Freyja, and many others who filled her life with joy over the years. Collecting various items brought her immense happiness, showcasing her electric and creative spirit.

Bonnie graduated from Warren High School with the class of 1981. At the tender age of 19, she welcomed her daughter, Jessica, into the world. With immense pride, Bonnie devoted herself to being a loving and supportive mother, cherishing every moment with Jessica as she grew up.

A free-spirited individual, Bonnie was often described as a hippie at heart who never truly grew old. Her upbeat demeanor and positivity were infectious, making her a beloved figure among everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

For the past 25 years, Bonnie shared her life with Ryan "Skip" Skibicki. Their partnership evolved through family, to best friends, as they navigated life's roller coaster together through laughter and challenges.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Jessica Kaml of Fisher, MN; her life partner, Ryan “Skip” Skibicki of Saint Hilaire, MN; and her siblings, Susan (Scott) Dowers, Debbie (Paul) Smith, Peggy Fuller, Becky (Dennis) Ptacek, Toni Burton, George "Jeff" (Precious) Kaml, and Lee (Crystal) Kaml; Skip’s mother, Linda Skibicki; Skip’s brother, Lynn Skibicki and Skip’s sister, Stacie (Bob) Grant. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will carry her memory forward.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dolores "Dolly" Kaml; her sister, Lori Kaml; her infant sisters, Georgiana and Darlene; her brothers-in-law, Bill Fuller and Jobi Burton; Jessica's grandparents, Art and Virginia Buringrud; Jessica's father, Gregory Buringrud; Skip’s dad, Wes Skibicki and nieces, Samantha McGowen and Ashley Burton carrying her infant son.

As we remember Bonnie Kaml, we celebrate a life filled with love, creativity, and an unwavering spirit that will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all those who knew her.

A time of Visitation for Bonnie will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 1 – 3 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. There will be a luncheon at the Heritage Community Center following the visitation.
