Boyce Lee, 82, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at his residence in Thief River Falls, MN.
The service to honor Boyce will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Abundant Life Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor LeRoy Flickinger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Folden Cemetery, rural Newfolden, MN.
Boyce Daniel Lee was born May 14, 1939 in Roseau, MN the son of Arthur and Hazel (Kolberg) Lee. He attended grade school in St. Hilaire, MN and graduated Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls with the class of 1957. He was a state champion pole vaulter.
Boyce served in the Army National Guard from 1957 until 1964.
On April 8, 1961, Boyce was united in marriage to Gloria Marie Melvie at the First Baptist Church in Thief River Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls and to this union three children were born, Judy, James and David.
From 1965-1967, Boyce worked as a welder at American Hoist in St. Paul, MN and from 1967-1997 worked for the City of Thief River Falls as Power Plant Operator retiring in 1997. Following retirement, Boyce was Camp Manager of Lake Bronson Bible Camp from 1998-2013.
Boyce enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycle, reading western and history books, visiting family and friends, working with his hands and attending Grandkids sporting and musical events. He was a very kind, gentle, caring family and community-oriented man.
He served as Chairman of the Board at First Baptist Church, was a Kiwanis Club member and in high school was active with the FFA. For the past few years, Boyce has enjoyed attending the Abundant Life Lutheran Church. Boyce had a deep faith in his Lord and Savior.
Survivors include his loving wife, Gloria of Thief River Falls; children, Judy (Kurt) Wiseth, James (Naomi) Lee and David (Christina) Lee all of Thief River Falls; 10 grandchildren, Nicole (Cory) Doolittle, Brittany Wiseth, Devin (fiancé Josie Amundson) Wiseth, Desire (Alex) Reinert, Dannica (James) Anderson, Alex Aehlert, Alisha (Andrew Duhigg) Lee, Nicholas Lee, Wyatt (MacKenzie Swenson) Lee, Jacob Lee; 6 great-grandchildren, Olivia Doolittle, Thomas Doolittle, Mason Reinert, Maverick Reinert, Jimmy Anderson, Josie Lee; brothers, Arvid (Jan) Lee and Eli (Dawn) Lee; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Art and Hazel Lee; father and mother-in-law, Eli and Judith Melvie; brothers-in-law, Robert Melvie, Earl Melvie, Clarence Hanson; sister-in-law, Betty Hanson; and several uncles and aunts.
