Obituary

Brian Lehrer, Red Lake Falls, MN, age 42, passed away from melanoma brain cancer on Monday, October 5, 2015. He was at his home with his wife, Renae, while Jordan, Wylie, and Livia were playing by his side. Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend John Bumgardner officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Cemetery, Wylie, MN. Visitation will be held Friday October 9, 2015 from 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM service at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls and also on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Brian Michael Lehrer was born October 14, 1972 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Andrew "Mike" and Karen (Longtin) Lehrer. He was baptized at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN. He attended Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, where he played football, participated in track, and played trombone in the band, graduating in 1991. He then attended North Dakota State University, receiving a Mechanical Engineering Degree upon his graduation in 1996. Brian worked many jobs during his school years, from Seeger Farms and Hardees to an internship at Polaris. After college, he worked for BF Goodrich Aerospace, Burnsville, MN as manufacturing engineer and manufacturing supervisor. He was employed as a mining equipment and maintenance supervisor at LTV Steel Mining Company, Hoyt Lakes, MN, and then he worked at the Occupational Development Center, Inc., Thief River Falls as manufacturing coordinator, building contractor and product designer. In 2008, Brian purchased the Chateau Motel and Liquor in Red Lake Falls and six rental properties. He also worked with his brother, Jim, in the trucking business. Brian was a kind and optimistic man who worked very hard throughout his career. He liked working with people and solving problems which made him a great person to work with. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially snowmobiling with his many friends and family. But most of all, he cherished the time with his children and Renae. His favorite place was Grandma Alice's cabin at Rocky Point on Lake of the Woods, and he loved that Renae and the kids enjoy it as much as he did. He was a loving, patient dad who took time to teach. He was very proud of his children and he let them know it often. His survivors include his wife Renae; children: John (b.2002), Julia (b.2003), Wylie (b.2011), and Livia (b.2012); step-son, Jordan (b.2002); mother Karen Longtin and father Andrew "Mike" Lehrer, Red Lake Falls; brothers Mark (Jodi) Lehrer and James Lehrer, Thief River Falls; nieces and nephew: Marissa, Kylie and Trandon Lehrer, Thief River Falls, MN He was preceded in death by his son Thomas (b.2000) in 2001; grandparents: Alice and Louis Longtin and Lucille and Ruben Lehrer, and uncle Mark Longtin.
