Brian Schmitz, 52 of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Thursday, March 09, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner presiding, Father Antony Fernando Concelebrant. Burial will be held later in the spring at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 12, 2017 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a prayer service at 5:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service.

Brian Schmitz was born on April 16, 1964 at St. John's Hospital in Red Lake Falls, MN the son of Sylvester and Helen (Weiss) Schmitz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. Brian attended St. Joseph Elementary School and graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls with the class of 1982.

Brian enjoyed farming and was proud to take over the family farm.

Brian enjoyed every holiday. He was known for his amazing Christmas, Halloween, and Easter villages. The 4 ^th of July fireworks display will be remembered. He also enjoyed threshing bees, attending auction sales, collecting antique equipment, darts, and attending nieces and nephews sporting events. Hunting with family and friends, snowmobiling, and spending time with his team of horses were also activities he liked.

Brian was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Sons of American Legion, and the Tri River Pioneers in Plummer, MN.

Survivors include siblings, Gale (Carol) Schmitz of Thief River Falls, MN, Sharon (Mike) Riendeau of Brooks, MN, Joel (Judy) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, Terry (MaryJo) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, Kevin Schmitz of Sidney, MT, Roxanne (Ross) Cota of Red Lake Falls, Kristie (Rusty) Remick of Red Lake Falls, Cindy (Walter) Novak of Brooks, MN, Kent (Kathy) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, DelRae (Bruce) Skalsky of St Hilaire, Brenda (Wayne) Steinbrink of Crookston, MN, Paula (Denny) Tice of Mentor, MN, Troy (Stacie) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls; special dog, George; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great-niece, aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Helen Schmitz; nephew, Simon Schmitz; grandparents, Henry and Ida Weiss, John and Anna Schmitz; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
