Bruce "Brutus" Fritz Park Rapids, MN formerly of McIntosh, MN age 59 died on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at his residence in Oklee, MN with his brother, John at his side. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Bruce Fritz will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN with his brother, Bob Fritz presiding. Burial will be at Emardville Cemetery, Plummer, MN. Military honors will be provided by the Plummer American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN. Bruce Arthur Fritz was born on June 13, 1955 in Bagley, MN the son of William "Bill" and Beryl (Poppler) Fritz. He was baptized into Christian faith and confirmed at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in McIntosh, MN and also attended school in McIntosh. In 1973, Bruce enlisted into service with the United States Army and in December was deployed to Germany where he spent the remainder of his duty. Following his Honorable Discharge, Bruce returned to McIntosh briefly before embarking on a lifetime of many adventures. Some of those adventures include truck driving, construction, and painting water towers. He was a talented woodworker and machinist and could even build a house. His most recent job was a caretaker and jack-of-all-trades at Campers Paradise near Nevis, MN, this was a job which Bruce dearly loved. This job led to a gift of two camping lots from Bruce's employer to invite family to celebrate his birthday. This annual event which started in 2006 has grown in eight years to almost 100% family attendance and is now referred to as "Uncle Bruce's Gathering Of The Kin." Bruce traveled throughout the United States on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and rode with the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club Chapter 42. Bruce was proud of his sobriety. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, bow hunting and riding and training horses. His nieces & nephews and great-nieces & nephews were the joy of his life. Survivors include his mother, Beryl Fritz of McIntosh, MN; father, Bill (Eva) Fritz of Osage, MN; siblings, Bev Aakhus of Plummer, MN, Bill (Valerie) Fritz, Jr., Bob (DeeDee) Fritz all of McIntosh, MN, Bud Fritz of Fargo, ND and John (Dawn Tepley) Fritz of St. Paul, MN; brother-in-law, Paul (Laura Evans) Aakhus of Erskine, MN; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael Poppler, Blanche Poppler, Alex Fritz & Viola Howard; and niece, Julie Fritz.
