Bruce Gilbert Moen Oklee, MN age 73, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D. surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7th at 10:00 at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The officiating clergy will be Rev. Margaret Jacobus. Burial will be held in the Salem Church Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Friday December 6th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Bruce was born in Fargo, N.D. May 23, 1940, to Henry and Alice (Christianson) Moen. At an early age, he moved with his family to the farm near Oklee, where he grew up. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. Bruce worked in the construction business, which took him to the surrounding states as well as Washington, Texas and Georgia. After retiring from construction work, he worked at 7 Clans Casino from 2003 until the summer of 2013. Bruce was very sociable. He loved to laugh and make others happy. He never focused on himself, but was sincerely interested in others' lives, especially those who were having a hard time. He was a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He loved the outdoors and through the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and cross-country skiing. Left to mourn his passing are daughter Jennifer (David) Dahl, granddaughter Savanna, twin sister Beverly Bakken, brothers Clyde (Laura) Moen and Clayton (Jacqueline) Moen, numerous nephews and nieces, and special friend Josie Adamski. Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry and Alice Moen and brother-in-law, Stanley Bakken. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Rachel Salberg and the staff for the wonderful support and care extended to Bruce during his stay in the ICU unit at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
