Calmer Rud, 92, died on Friday, August 27, 2004 at Northwest Medial Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 Monday, August 30, 2004 at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist, MN with Rev. Curtis Matz officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethesda Cemetery, Strandquist, MN.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday.

Calmer Rud was born on July 9, 1912 in Strathcona, MN to Christ and Janna Rud. He was baptized in Strathcona and confirmed in Cedarberg, WI. He attended country school. At a young age he went to work in the woods logging. He was united in marriage to Gladys Johnson on October 19, 1938 in Strandquist, MN. Calmer did carpentry work for a living. He also raised sheep and farmed.

Calmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also liked woodworking, making Ferris wheels and other items. He played the harmonica, enjoyed dancing, and loved eating chocolate candy bars.

Calmer is survived by five children: Ronnie Rud, Seattle, WA; Weslie (Eunice) Rud, Strandquist, MN; Duane (Diane) Rud, Thief River Falls, MN; Marlene Wikstrom, Minneapolis, MN; Judy Lubarski, Hopkins, MN. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren; one brother John Rud, Moorhead, MN.

Calmer was preceded in death by his wife Gladys on February 24, 1997, his parents, one daughter Darlene Rud, two grandchildren Kelly Wikstrom, Kyja Rud, three brothers: Carl, Andrew, and Engvald, and three sisters Inga Roppe, Jenny Larson, Alma Wicklund.
