Obituary

Candace Cynthia Strand, 35, of Bemidji, MN died on Friday, March 25, 2005 at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor at 2:00 PM with Reverend Sylvia Jerdee Officiating. A traditional American Indian Funeral will be held on Wednesday 10:30 AM at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Red Lake Falls with Gilbert Smith presiding. Burial will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery at Mentor.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 " 8 PM with a 5:00 PM prayer service at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Red Lake Falls and also for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Candace Cynthia Strand was born December 7, 1969 at Fort Francis Ontario Canada daughter of Ronald and Agnes (Handorgan) Strand. She was baptized at the Bethel Bible Church at Mentor, MN. Candace attended school at Mentor. She worked as a waitress and cook in many places in Grand Forks and Bemidji and also worked as a home health care aid in Bemidji.

Candace enjoyed reading, cooking food and giving the food away. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed watching movies. She was very artistic enjoying painting, crafts, doing bead work, and leather work. She was very good with children and enjoyed the time she spent with her children. Candace was a volunteer at a nursing home in Barnesville and also worked at the daycare there.

She is survived by the father of her children Daryl Bohn of Bemidji; children Brittany Strand, Aaron Bohn and Michael Bohn all of Bemidji: her mother Agnes Benedix of Morrson Ontario Canada: brothers and sisters Tina Hagl, Red Lake Falls, MN; Carol Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN; Amy Big George, Morrson Ontario Canada; Joline White, Winnipeg Manitoba; Melanie Buckshot, Fort Francis Canada; Ann Buckshot, Fort Francis Canada; Stephanie Buckshot, Fort Francis Canada; Cheryl Cassibo, Clearbrook, MN; Kathy Keene, Cindy Larson, Donna Peterson, Russell Strand and Charles Strand, Aunts and Uncles Gladys DeBungee, Margaret Yerxa, Rose Tuesday, Myers Handorgan, Robert Handorgan, Arnold Strand and Norma Olson along with many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother Gladys Strand who she considered her mother, her grandfather Rugner Strand and also grandparents Bill and Clara Handorgan.
