Carl Mildren Lindblom was born on April 13, 1916 at Marsden, Saskatchewan, Canada, near Artland, the son of Arthur Leonard and Annie Otilia (Swanson) Lindblom. After Carl was born, they lived two summers and one winter in Canada and then returned to Bray Township, Pennington County, MN. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Black River Lutheran Church.

At the age of 12, Carl become the man of the house, when his father Arthur died. He attended country schools in Bray Township and graduated Valedictorian at St. Hilaire High School in 1934. He worked at the Swanson farm and helped at neighboring farms until enlisting into service with the United States Army. He went to Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis for radio repair and telephone lineman from 1942 until 1943. From October of 1944 thru January of 1946 he served in New Guinea in the South Pacific with the Army Signal Corps; which was a crew of men who maintained the communications for the armed forces. Following his Honorable Discharge, Carl returned to work at a radio repair shop in Warren, MN. He later went to work in Thief River Falls at Horejsch Electric.

On June 8, 1947 he was united in marriage to Olga Waale at the Waale farm near Goodridge, MN. They lived for a short time in Thief River Falls then made their home on the Waale farm in Kratka Township in March of 1948. The couple ran a dairy and small grain farm and raised their 4 children: Duane, Curtis, Kenneth and Marjorie.

Farming and raising a family kept Carl plenty busy, but he still found time for community service. He completed 14 years of service on the Pennington County Soil and Water Conservation Board; he also served on the Kratka Twp. Board, was 4-H Club Leader, served on Goodridge Creamery Board, Farmers Home Administration Board; Tri-County Nursing Service Board, Good Hope Farmers Union Local, Pennington County Crop Improvement Association; and in 1980, Carl and Olga received Pennington County Valley Farmer and Homemaker Award.

Carl was a member of Telemarken Lutheran Church from 1948 until 2005 when Telemarken closed. He was very active at Telemarken and served as church president and trustee. Carl was currently a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

Carl had a sensitive spirit, deep faith, and always had time for coffee and visiting. Carl relished good practical jokes and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends. Maintaining warm peaceful relationships with family and friends was very important. There was a genuine concern for others and he had a gentle effective way to communicate. Carl was a strong, steady, faithful man and was devoted to his wife, family and community.

Carl and Olga developed a strong relationship with Ron Mills who lived with the family for three teenage years. They continued to build an even closer relationship throughout the years. Rons bus touring business resulted in many wonderful trips throughout North America. They especially enjoyed their trip to Nova Scotia. He was an avid outdoorsman; fishing was his favorite. Carl developed a love of music at an early age at the Saturday night neighborhood jam sessions. He could play the accordion and harmonica and thoroughly enjoyed listening to music.
