Carla Johnson, 72, died on Monday, May 26, 2008 at MeritCare Northwest in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN with Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Valle Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oklee.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, May 30, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.

Carla Marlene Loiland was born on November 14, 1935 to Ole and Lillian (Sordahl) Loiland at home in Pennington County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Valle Lutheran Church in rural Oklee. She grew up and attended country school near Trail, and graduated from high school in Oklee in 1953. She lived in Minneapolis after graduation and worked at the Foshay tower.

She was united in marriage to George Minard Johnson on November 14, 1954 at Valle Lutheran Church. They started their married life in Chester Township, Polk County, MN. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Gully Coop Oil Association for over 20 years. They moved to Oklee for several years. She helped do income taxes for many years. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1991. She started in the real estate business in Oklee for a few years before starting the Century 21 real estate franchise in Thief River Falls, MN. She and her husband George ran Grandma and Grandpas daycare for 12 years in Thief River Falls, MN. She worked as a cashier at the Seven Clans Casino for 7 years.

Carla enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing cards, garage sales, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her special pet dog Bu Bu. Carla has battled cancer for many years.

Carla is survived by her husband George, Thief River Falls, MN, 4 sons: Richard (Janet) Lindstrom, MN, Roger (Tammi), Champlin, MN, Rod (fiance Toni), Oklee, Jeff (Pam), Trail, MN, 10 grandchildren, Cory (Kristina) Johnson, Grantsburg, WI, Benji (Val) Johnson, Amery, WI, Dustin (Trisha) Johnson, Chisago City, MN, Vicki (Andy) Knotz, Oak Grove, MN, Jami (Brian) Sloan, Monticello, MN, Kari Johnson, Bemidji, MN, Katie Johnson, Pine Wood, MN, Tyler Johnson, Oklee, MN, Seth Johnson, Trail, MN, and Marie Johnson, Trail, MN, 8 great grandchildren, Anneka, Lane, Sammy, Tony, Tyler, Cody, Gavin, Lauryn, one sister Joanne (Vernon) Voeltz, Trail, MN, a niece Eddie Dukek, Bagley, MN, and 4 nephews, Steve Loiland, Bagley, MN, Tom (Sookie) Loiland, Seoul, Korea, LuWayne (Jodi) Loiland, Bagley, MN, Larry (Lori) Voeltz, Trail, MN, two sisters in law, Perry Loiland, Bagley, MN, Verna Loiland, Bemidji, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Gordon Loiland, a nephew Ronald Voeltz.
