Carla Manderud of Monticello, MN, formerly Goodridge, MN, 43, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, MN. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, March 17, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to the service at the church, Monday. Carla Jean Manderud was born August 14, 1970 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Robert and Holly (Holthusen) Manderud. She was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran, Goodridge. She attended Goodridge School graduating in 1988, she then attended the University of North Dakota and transferred to Northwest Technical College in East Grand Forks, MN when she decided to change her major. She also recently obtained her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Phoenix. She served in the National Guard and obtained the rank of Sergeant. Carla was employed as a lab technician at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, MN. She enjoyed reading, camping, watching sports (mostly Twins and Vikings), playing games, boating, fishing and spending time with family and friends. She spent most of her free time with family and thought of her niece and nephews as her own. She had a very special relationship with her cousins. She loved to play pranks on her work friends. Carla was always a positive person who thought about other people first. She loved being outside in the summer and enjoyed all summer activities. Carla fought a courageous battle against cancer and was very appreciative of the care and support she received during this journey. Survivors include: parents, Robert and Holly Manderud, Goodridge, MN; grandmother, Hazel Holthusen, Goodridge, MN; brother Dale Manderud and children, Dylan, Riley and Chase; sister, Jodi (Robert) Burley and their children, Jack, Drew and Sidney Burley, Prior Lake, MN. Preceded in death by grandfather, Jack Holthusen; grandparents, Oscar and Ida Manderud, aunt Clarice Auld and uncle Jerome Rolandson.
