Carol Jean Ellingson, 67, died on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Luther Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Lanstad Cemetery, Sanders Township, Pennington County, MN.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 16, 2004 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Friday evening and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Carol Jean Ewing was born on November 17, 1936 in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Urban and Mae (Johnstad) Ewing. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended school in Crookston, MN, graduating from Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. Following High School Carol attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN for one year.

Carol was united in marriage to Charles Ellingson on May 5, 1956 in Newfolden, MN. The couple made their home in Karlstad for 1½ years and then moved to Thief River Falls, where they lived until 1969. Carol and Charles moved to Anoka where they resided until 1974, when they returned to Thief River Falls, and have resided here since. Carol was a Homemaker. She started doing upholstering while living in Anoka and also at their farm in Thief River Falls. In 1987 she began working in the Sewing Department at Arctic.

Carols family was always first in her life. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, bird watching with Charles and word games. She loved to play solitaire on her hand held electronic game.

She was a member of Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, where she made many quilts with the ladies at the church. Carol made a quilt for each of her children and their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her husband, Charles of Thief River Falls, MN; five children: Connie Ellingson of Salol, MN, Pattie (Mike) Jarshaw of Newfolden, MN, Cathie (Mike) Thompson of Zimmerman, MN, Kent (Stacey) Ellingson of Crookston, MN and Troy (Tiffani) Ellingson of Thief River Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren: Tara (Jamie) Wiegel, Trevor, Tyson, Rhiannon, Erik, Evan, Bethany, Nolan, TaeLeigh, Logan and Miranda; three great grandchildren: Samantha, Alexandra and Rylie; two sisters: Linda (Michael) Strapp of Forest Lake, MN and Hawaii and Faye (Robert) Brewer of Cottage Grove, MN; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Kenneth Ewing.
