Carol Gladys Johnson, age 71, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Rob Kopp officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church. Carol (Jeannette) Johnson was born on December 21st, 1940 at home in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Stephan and Clara (Jacobson) Jeannette. She attended country school in Pennington County and high school at Lincoln High School, graduating in 1958. Carol was employed with Wells Fargo Bank in Thief River Falls for 41 years, starting as a teller and working up to the vice president/consumer banking manager. She took pride in being an independent and resourceful business woman. Carol and Curtis W. Johnson were united in marriage on August 6, 1961 in Thief River Falls, MN. Carol and Curt made their home together on the family farm north of Thief River Falls. Carol was a member of the United Methodist Church where she served on several committees. She was dedicated to her faith and instilled the same in her family. Carol was active in the community; she served on the board at the DAC, was involved in the Big Sister Little Sister program, and served as president of the TRF Sports Boosters Club. Carol cherished every minute she had with her five grandchildren. They will always remember snuggling with her, listening to bedtime stories and her made up songs. Carol loved camping, hunting and fishing and spending weekends at Union Lake. Her friends and family say Carol always had a smile on her face and could quickly turn around a tense situation with her sense of humor. Survivors include her husband and best friend of 50 years, Curtis of Thief River Falls; children, Mark (Laureen) Johnson of Manvel ND, Sheryl Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN, Jeff Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Kayla Johnson, Alyssa Johnson, Hailey Johnson, Logan Johnson, and Cole Johnson; siblings, Dorothy Blodgett of Thief River Falls, MN, sister-in-law, Rosemary Naeseth; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James and Phillip.
