Carol Joan Klopp of Thief River Falls, MN, 79, died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Memory Care Unit of Greenleaf Assisted Living, Thief River Falls, MN surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Carol Joan Madson was born September 4, 1934 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Chester Lee and Selma Christine (Dahl) Madson. She was baptized on August 19, 1938 and confirmed on February 25, 1947 in Fargo. Carol attended school in Fargo and graduated from Marmot High School in Mandan, ND in 1955. In her early years, Carol was lovingly known as "Puggy". On April 25, 1956, Carol was united in marriage to Carroll L. Tabatt in Sisseton, SD. The couple lived in Fargo where she worked at Vanity Laundromat & Cleaners. In 1968 they moved to Thief River Falls, MN and raised their family. Carol worked for Narverud Cleaners, Norwest Bank and C'mon Inn. On May 18, 1991, Carol married Floyd H. Klopp at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. The couple continued to reside in Thief River Falls. Carol was a member of the Tootsie Rollers Bowling Club from 1971 until 1975 in Thief River Falls. She liked going shopping; attending garage sales and having coffee with "the girls." Carol's whistling brought a smile to everyone who heard her. Carol was a very active grandmother attending her grandchildren's special family occasions, school programs and sporting events. She is survived by her children, Christine (Christopher) Reak, East Grand Forks, MN, Cynthia (Monte) Graff, Greenbush, MN; step children, Christine (Lance) Figgins, Grand Rapids, MN, Heidi Sourdif, Roseau, MN and William (Wendy) Klopp, Thief River Falls, MN; 15 grandchildren, Nichole, Jarod, Rikki, Casey, Corey, Connor, Samantha, Taylor, Christopher, Jeremy, Jacob, Harley, Leah, Michael and Joshua; 3 great grandchildren, Natalie, James, and Lillian; a sister, Karen Orvik; nephews, Barry, Lance and Brian Orvik; niece, Shelly Krump; and many other relatives and friends. Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd in 2009; parents; and a brother, Darrell.
