Carol Suronen, 82 of Thief River Falls passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Thomas Puffe officiating.  Burial will be at Park Ridge Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service on Friday, March 15, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.

Carol Jean Carlson was born March 14, 1936 at home in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Godfrey and Mildred (Sale) Carlson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Carol attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1955.

On November 25, 1955, Carol was united in marriage to Walter Suronen at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. To this union two sons were born Walter and Jeffrey and the family made their home in Hamel, MN. In 1991 they moved back to Thief River Falls.

Carol worked various jobs yet her main focus was raising her children.

She enjoyed baking, cooking, camping, arts, crafts, garage sales, auction sales, collecting antiques and visiting with family and friends. Carol was a happy, fun-loving woman who loved her children and grandchildren.

Carol was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayzata, MN, Glory of Christ Lutheran Church in Plymouth, MN and most recently St. John's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

Survivors include sons, Walter S. Suronen of Thief River Falls and Jeffrey (Holly) Suronen of Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Cole, Catarina "Kitty", Danielle; sister, Katie (John) Lewandowski of Mounds View, MN; special niece, Julie Miller; and many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1994; parents; siblings, Carl "Sonny" Carlson, Billy Carlson and Susie Larson.
