Carroll Edward Buck, Thief River Falls, MN 94, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN.
A private family service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793, American Legion Post 117 and Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Carroll was born on April 7, 1929, in Waupaca, WI, the son of Frank and Matilda (Christensen) Buck. Carroll was baptized into the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 1947.
On September 22, 1956, Carroll was united in marriage to Nancy Virgina in Hermantown MN. In 1948 Carroll began working at Soo Line Railroad Signal Dept, he installed train signals and crossing signal gates. He worked as Assistant Signal Maintainer in Marshfield and Superior, WI. Then as Signal Maintainer in Glenwood and Thief River Falls MN, where he retired in April 1990 after 40 years of service.
Carroll loved to hunt and fish with his brother Harold in the rivers and lakes that taught him all about the sport. And with his son, Mark, deer hunting, and fishing in Lake of the Woods, Minnesota. He enjoyed Christmas time with his family and other get-togethers during the year. Carroll also enjoyed gardening and working in the yard with his wife, Nancy, to make the yard look nice with flowers and yard arrangements, watching the Green Bay Packer football in the Fall with his wife, Nancy, and son, Mark.
He was a member of VFW Post 2793, American Legion Post 117 and Eagles Club in Thief River Falls, MN.
He is survived by 4 children, Kathy Meyer, Susan (Glenn) Meyer, Mark Buck, Cheryl (Terry) Voecks; 8 grandchildren, Dawn, Michelle, Lori, Kim, Jeremy, Melissa, Cory, and Alexis; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy; all his family, Carroll was the last survivor of his 11 siblings: 4 brothers, Harold, Delbert, Clarence, Mike and 7 sisters, Marian, Evelyn, Margaret, Dorothy, Lorraine, Kathleen, and Helen.
