Casimir "Cobb" Radniecki, 94, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Sanford Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN with Father Chuck Huck presiding, and Father Joe Richards, con celebrating, and Deacon John Bruggeman. Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery, Oklee.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday.
Casimir Walter "Cobb" Radniecki was born December 31, 1916 at home in Trail, MN the son of John and Emma (Vattendahl) Radniecki. He was baptized into the Catholic Faith at St. Gertrude's Church in Rhoda, MN. Casimir completed 8
th
grade in country school District 52 in Deer Park Township and was very proud of his life accomplishments with that little of formal education.
On September 26, 1939, Cobb was united in marriage to Wylma H. Stromberg at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Plummer, MN. Cobb, as he was often called, and Wylma celebrated their 50
th
and 60
th
wedding anniversaries and were married a total of 63 years. The couple lived most of their life on their farm in Deer Park Township. They moved around with Cobb's job in construction, especially with Great Lakes Dredge and Dock. They lived in San Diego, CA, Buenos Aires, Argentina, San Francisco, CA, Buffalo, NY, Alexandria Bay, NY, Niagara Falls, NY, Clearbrook, MN, Gonvick, MN, Aitkin, MN and Gary, IN. Casimir continued living in Oklee after Wylma's death in 2002. In 2009, he moved to Valley Home in Thief River Falls and then back to Oklee at the Freedom Living Center in May of 2010.
Casimir was proud of his family roots, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lake of the Woods fishing was important to Cobb, especially in the winter when he and Wylma would catch their limits. The Radniecki's attended the Norsk Hostfest for 18 consecutive years. Trips in the motorhome, included Disney World, Disney Land, and Alaska. Coffee and sweets were always important, especially during family gatherings. His legacy includes: Faith, Family, Respect, Hard Work, Friends, and Strong Spirit.
Survived by daughters: Bonnie (Don) Berg, Erskine, MN, Mary Ann (Richard) Lambert, Oklee, MN; son: Michael (Mary) Radniecki, Detroit Lakes, MN; grandchildren: Michelle (Mark) Jorgenson, Sherri (Robbie) Christianson, Jodi (Danny) Lee, Nicole (James) Juve, Carl (Rosalyn) Berg, Kevin (Kelly) Berg, Eric Berg, Kristin (Brian) Emanuel, Debbie (Kevin) Amiot, Trini (Brian) Cyr, Scott (Shannon) Lambert, Nathan (Bambi) Lambert, Tim Lambert, Cindy (Adam) Dallmann, Scott Radniecki and Sarah Radniecki; great grandchildren: Ashley and Tyler Jorgenson, Brandon and Zachary Haugen, Cody and Brittany Lee, Shannon, Paula and Kayla Juve, Jacob, Braeden, Amelia and Aliyah Berg, Kyler and Kelen Berg, Kadie, Ryan and Bella Amiot, Jedre, Jaret, Jocylin, Jaeger Cyr, Devin, Connor, Carson Lambert, Annika, Aubrey, and Sawyer Lambert, Keaton Dallmann, two brothers, Roman (Elaine) Radniecki, Oklee, MN, Dick (LaVonne) Radniecki, Apache Junction, AZ, one brother in law Roy Jorgenson, Fergus Falls, MN, three sisters in law: Clara Radniecki, Thief River Falls, MN, Therese Radniecki, Thief River Falls, MN and Vivian Gable, San Diego, CA, also many nephews and nieces.
Preceded in death by his wife Wylma in 2002, his parents, seven siblings: Stanley, Virgil, Jack, and Al Radniecki, Kay Jorgenson, Helen Frank, Ann Grimes, and two infant grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
