Catherine Jorgenson, 90, died on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9 AM on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at the St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Tim McGee officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Plummer, MN.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 from 5-8 PM at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Thursday.
Catherine Radniecki was born on November 24, 1914 to John Leon and Emma (Vattendahl) Radniecki in Deer Park Township, Pennington County, MN. She attended country school until the 8th grade and then went onto to graduate from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN in 1932. She then attended cosmetology school in Chicago, IL. She worked as a hairdresser in Provo, Utah for a while and then had her own shop in Oklee, MN. She was united in marriage to Willard Bill Paul Jensen on July 20, 1942. They made their home all over the world including Minnesota, South Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, and South America. Bill died in an accident in South America in February of 1963. Catherine moved back to Minnesota to be closer to her family and continued raising her children. She settled in Thief River Falls in June of 1963. Catherine worked as a nurses aide at the hospital in Thief River Falls for a short time, then as a secretary for Sam Genereux Insurance, part owner and bookkeeper of the Radniecki & Jensen Construction Company, and as a home health aide for the Inter County Nursing Service.
She was united in marriage to Roy Albert Jorgenson on November 22, 1969 at St. Bernards Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls, MN and then lived in Oklee, and back to Thief River Falls for the past 12 years.
Catherine was active in many things: including President of the District 9 VFW Auxiliary, President of the VFW Post #2703 Auxiliary in Thief River Falls; Local President of the D.O.E.S and a 40 year member, American Legion Auxiliary of Thief River Falls; and the President of the International War Veterans Auxiliary. This service group lead to much travel which she enjoyed with her husband Roy, including Washington D.C., Philadelphia, South Carolina, and Canada.
Catherine had a great love for her daughters and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, who enjoyed baking fresh buns, breads, and Christmas treats until the freezer was full. She enjoyed sewing, making Cabbage Patch dolls for her grandchildren, and special Christmas ornaments. She also enjoyed her friends and aerobic times at the Heritage Center. She taught Catechism for many years, and also was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. She and Roy enjoyed old time dancing and many years of antiquing together.
Catherine is survived by her husband Roy, Thief River Falls, MN; 5 daughters: Kathy (Don) Graef, Elverson, PA; Cheri Jensen, St. Paul, MN; Judy (Ron) Lindberg, Thief River Falls, MN; Mary (Dean) Otto, Mankato, MN; Wendy (Jeff) Ryan, St. Paul, MN; 10 grandchildren: Scott Graef, Jeff (Tammy) Graef, Stacy Graef; Pauline (Mike) Norgard, Jenny (Troy) Hanestad, Kristi (Patrick) Howard, Zachary (Susan) Otto, Nicholas (Amy) Otto; Kelly Ryan, Cory (Tamrah) Ryan; 7 great grandchildren: Mikaela, Anna, and Emma Grace Norgard, Christian, Annika, and Noah Hannestad, Braeden Otto, 4 brothers: Casmir Cobb Radniecki, Oklee, MN; Virgil (Therese) Radniecki, Oklee, MN; Roman (Elaine) Radniecki, Oklee, MN; Dick (LaVonne) Radniecki, Mesa, AZ; 1 sister in law: Alice Bergeron, Owatonna, MN; brothers in law: Alvin (Bonnie) Jensen, Oklee, MN; and Roys brothers: Kenneth, Albert, Wesley, Milton, Einar, Morris, Ralph, and Lyle Jorgenson.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents John and Emma Radniecki, her first husband Bill Jensen, 2 sisters Ann Grimes, Helen Frank, and 3 brothers Stanley, Jack, and Al Radniecki.
