Catherine LaCoursiere, 80, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, MN.


A Celebration of Life for Catherine Kitty LaCoursiere will be 10 AM, Monday, August 28, 2006 at St. Joseph Church, Brooks, MN with Father Tim Bushy presiding. Burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Oklee, MN.

Catherine Kitty Louise Jennings, was born February 27, 1926 in Erie, PA, the daughter of Jim and Sarah Jennings. She was raised and attended school at Erie, PA and graduated from Central High School in 1944 at Erie.

On April 26, 1996, Kitty was united in marriage to Delton LaCoursiere. The couple made Brooks, MN their summer home and winter home in Mesa, AZ. The couple enjoyed traveling thoughout the United States.

Kitty attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brooks. She liked to sew, cook and was a gracious host. She liked to dance, loved to wear hats and was a member of the Red Hat Society of Brooks. She was an avid reader as well as a teacher of the Bible. Kitty made many quilts and donated them to a shelter for abused children. Her greatest gift was being a mother to her children and grandchildren.

Catherine is survived by husband, Delton, Brooks, MN; children: Robert (Barbara) Shampoe, Houston, TX, Daniel (Judy) Champeaux, Sonora, CA, Melody (Tim Lexow) Jennings, Vancouver, WA, Crystal (Bill) Palser, Tucson, AZ and Sarah (Ben) Sanders, Tempe, AZ; step-children: Michael (Nerrisa) LaCoursiere, Duluth, MN, Joyce (Wendell) Odegaard, Kent, MN, Donna (Darko) Brlobas, Scottsdale, AZ, Brian LaCoursiere, Brooks, MN and Mary (Michael) Koski, Tempe, AZ; 6 grandchildren : Danny, Robert, Heather, Dak, Felicia and Rebekah; 9 step-grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren: Elise and Devin; brother: Henry (Maxine) Jennings, Sacramento, CA and sister: Dorothy Gregory, San Diego, CA.

She is preceded in death by parents, sisters: Mary Jane and Gloria and a brother: Bud.
