Cecelia Ardies, 91 of Thief River Falls, MN died on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at MeritCare Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor Scott Pattison officiating. Burial will be held at Lancaster Memorial Gardens in Lancaster, MN. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Cecelia Esther Docken was born December 18, 1918 in Pembina, ND the fifth of twelve children born to Andrew and Santon Lena (Bushie) Docken. She was baptized by immersion as a young girl into the Baptist faith. She attended the Grasshopper Country School.

Cecelia married Richard Glad on December 2, 1938 in Thief River Falls, MN and they made their home on a farm near Lancaster, MN. They farmed in Poppleton Township, Kittson County and raised their four children, Richard, David, Susan and Gaylene. Richard died in 1975.

She was united in marriage to Douglas Ardies on July 4, 1982 and they made their home in Pembina, ND for a short time and then moved to Fairmont, ND. The couple later moved to Dawson, MN to be near Cecelias daughter, Susan. Douglas died in 1994.

Cecelia worked at the nursing home in Hallock, MN; for the Green Thumb work program in the elementary School in Dawson; and the Prairie 5 Clothing Store in Madison, MN. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, bible reading, sewing, embroidery, plants, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Baptist Church in Lancaster, MN where she was clerk of the church for many years. Cecelia loved the Lord Jesus and her greatest desire was that all her children and grandchildren would accept Him as Lord and Savior of their lives too.

Survivors include her children, Richard C. (Diane) Glad, Jr. of Lancaster, MN, David (Eileen) Glad of Warroad, MN and Susan (Harlan) Nielsen of Dawson, MN; 11 grandchildren, Richard B. Glad, Jamie Glad, Vicky Glad, Evette (Harley) Larson, Mark (Tanya) Glad, Michael (Kathleen) Glad, Travis Glad, Jason Glad, Krystal Glad, Patty (Robert Bob ) Johnson, Robert (Karla) Glad; 2 step granddaughters, Melissa (Robbie) Meyer and Michelle (Brian) Motsche; 12 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brooks, Marlee, Justine, Albert, Cory, Andrew, Jordan, Matthew, Taylor, Noah, Brooke; 4 step great grandchildren, Brianna, Devon, Mikala and Kendra; great-great granddaughter, Jasmine Moran; sister, Alice Davis of St. Peter, MN; sisters-in-law, Harriet Docken, Ellen Docken and Mary Docken; brother-in-law, Carl Adolfson; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard in 1975; husband, Douglas in 1994; daughter, Gaylene in 2003; granddaughter, Jenny Nielsen Chase in 2005; great-grandson, Nicholas Sevigny in 2006; brothers, Robert, Raymond, Lawrence, Fred and John Docken; sisters, Ruby Adolfson, Virginia Anderson (Cecelias twin), Elizabeth Vanous, Lorene Rondeau and Victoria in infancy.
