Celeste Fae Hetland
Celeste Fae Hetland, age 75, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Born on January 8, 1951, at Mercy Hospital in Thief River Falls, Celeste was the beloved daughter of Lue and Helen (Myhrer) Hetland.
Celeste was baptized at home by her grandfather, Rev. Thorvald Myhrer, and was later confirmed at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls by Pastor Wes Johnson. Her faith remained an important part of her life, and she was a faithful member of the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls.
Celeste grew up in Thief River Falls, where she attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1969. She continued her education at Moorhead State College, earning a degree in Teaching, and later attended Floral Design School in Denver, Colorado. Her lifelong love of art, beauty, and creativity became evident in both her professional and personal pursuits.
Following college, Celeste taught art for a short time before beginning a career in commercial art with Quillan Company in Thief River Falls. She later followed her passion for flowers and design, working as a floral designer for several floral shops in the area. In later years, she became a valued member of DigiKey's Marketing Department, where she worked for many years until her retirement.
Creative and talented in countless ways, Celeste had a remarkable artistic gift that touched every aspect of her life. She found joy in decorating, gardening, sewing, baking gourmet desserts, and creating beautiful floral arrangements. She especially loved flowers, animals, and spending time with dogs and horses. She enjoyed playing violin. Her warm spirit, creativity, and attention to detail brought beauty and comfort to those around her.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Patricia Hetland of Thief River Falls; special cousins Dorothy (Siggen) Larson, Barbara Needham, Kathleen Rogahn, Janet (Jon) Anton, Randi (Dan) Hodny, David (Dianne) Myhrer, Roger (Linda) Peterson, Diane (Jim) O’Brien, Pam Ziessler; as well as many other relatives, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Celeste was preceded in death by her parents, Lue and Helen Hetland; and many close family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the funeral service to be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Evangelical Free Church, 211 Arnold Avenue North, Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Pastor Kevin MacLean will officiate. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow the service. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Celeste will be remembered for her kindness, artistic talent, strong faith, love of nature and animals, and the beauty she created throughout her life. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
