Cerise Swanson-Luhning, 69, died April 15, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Saturday.

Cerise Helen Lee was born May 22, 1939 to Harland and Anna (Hanson) Lee in Thief River Falls, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was raised near Moose River, MN near Grygla, MN. She graduated from Goodridge High School.

She was united in marriage to Donald George Swanson on February 14, 1958 at Northwood Lutheran Church in rural Grygla, MN. To this union 5 children were born. She worked at Arctic Cat for a number of years during the 1970s. Donald died in 1986. She moved to St. Cloud in 1988 and worked at Finger Hut.

She moved to Ottertail, MN in 1998. She was married to Dick Luhning in September of 2006.

Cerise enjoyed dancing. She loved to dance up a storm with her husband Donald and their love shown through on the dance floor. She enjoyed playing jokes on her family. She enjoyed fishing and the lakes. She found peace and tranquility around the water. Her energy was devoted to her grandchildren. She was involved in her grandchildrens lives and helped raise them. She also enjoyed bowling and gardening.

Cerise is survived by her 5 children: Natalie Swanson, Perham, MN, Tami (Chuck) Larson, Williams, MN, Kimberli (Tim) Twining, Las Vegas, NV, Carla (Dennis) Swanson-Cullen, New Ulm, MN, Tasha (Bryan) Freese, St. Cloud, MN, 6 grandchildren, Jason Scott, Perham, MN, Jessica Scott, Colorado Springs, CO, Tara Tharaldson, Las Vegas, NV, Derek, Deven, and Deren Swanson-Cullen, New Ulm, MN, step grandchild, Shaun (Tami) Larson and their three children Alicia, Joshua, and Benjamin, Zimmerman, MN, husband, Dick Luhning, Battle Lake, MN, brothers and sisters, George (LaVonne) Lee, Kenneth Lee, Vernon (Arlene) Lee, Ralph Lee, Gerald (Betty) Lee, Leland (Carol) Lee, Delilah Anderson, Jeanne Brenna and Judith (Duane) Kotrba; sister in law Myrtle Lee, also many nieces and nephews, and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Donald in 1986, parents, brothers Earl and Harlan Lee,
