Charles Skadsem, 51, died on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden, MN with Rev. Gary Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Newfolden, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Tuesday. Charles LaVerne Skadsem was born on March 7, 1961 to Dennis LaVerne Skadsem and Karen Elizabeth (Hendrickson)in Karlstad, MN. He grew up in the Newfolden area and in Wyoming. He attended school and graduated from Marshall County Central in 1979. He moved to Wyoming to work in the oil fields with his dad and uncle. He worked out in the oil fields for almost 10 years. He also worked as a chemical dependency counselor for about 10 years in Thermopolis and Sheridan, Wyoming. In the late 1990's he returned to the oil fields. He was injured working on an oil rig and wasn't able to continue working. He was united in marriage to Rhonda Lee Rundberg on February 20, 1999 at Gillette, Wyoming. They made their home in Gillette, WY and moved back to Minnesota in 2000. Chuck loved to take a ride on his Harley. He also enjoyed fishing and refinishing furniture. The outdoors was where he felt most comfortable. Chuck is survived by his wife Rhonda, Newfolden, children: Corey Skadsem, Strandquist, MN, Craig (Megan Swanson) Skadsem, Strandquist, MN, Jacob Skadsem, Fargo, ND, Zachary Skadsem, Great Falls, MT, step son Jason "Ryan" Garland, Cedar Rapids, IA, grandchildren: Gage Skadsem, Kaycee Skadsem, Kylee Skadsem, Jason Garland, Mason Garland, Boston Garland, dad Dennis (Marie) Skadsem, Pine Haven, WY, mom Karen Skadsem, Strandquist, MN, two brothers Brian (Tami) Skadsem, Chisholm, MN and Jason Skadsem, Newfolden, MN, grandmother Lucile Skadsem, Newfolden, MN, and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by step dad Willis Skadsem, grandparents Art Skadsem, Elmer and Arlene Hendrickson.
