Charles Swanson Red Lake Falls, MN age 89 died peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks, ND with his loving family at his side.
Charles Oscar Swanson was born on October 15, 1926 in Red Lake Falls, MN the son of Carl Oscar and Marcia Leora (Dobson) Swanson. He was baptized at Tarna Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, MN. He attended District #108 Country School through the eighth grade, high school in St. Hilaire, MN and graduated from the AC in Crookston, MN.
Charles served in the United States Army during World War II.
He returned home to run the Swanson Family Farm which bordered both Red Lake County and Pennington County. Charles raised livestock, small grains, and enjoyed the farm life.
In his spare time, Charles liked reading, bird-watching and traveling. He was a member of Black River Lutheran Church in rural St. Hilaire, MN.
Survivors include siblings, Heimer (Vera) Swanson of Owatonna, MN, Margaret (Leonard) Litzner of Brooklyn Park, MN, Ethel (Loren) St. Michel of Oakdale, MN; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leland Swanson, Elnora Soderquist, Elizabeth Lindberg, Lester Swanson, Lois Thorson and Leora Fields.
