Cherie Walters, 53, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 4, 2008 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Milo Mathson officiating. Burial will be Landstad Cemetery
Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service on Sunday evening and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Cherie Glendice Sevre was born on April 7, 1955 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Glen and Alyce (Jensen) Sevre. She was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, MN and attended St. Hilaire Elementary School, graduating from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN in 1973. Following high school she worked at Hardees and McDonalds in Thief River Falls.
Cherie was once married to Dave Walters and the couple lived in Red Lake Falls. She worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home until she became ill in 1995. Cherie continued to live in Red Lake Falls until 2003 when she moved to East Grand Forks, MN. In 2007 she moved to Elder Care and live there until her death.
She enjoyed ceramics, making jewelry with beads and cross stitching. Cherie loved Christmas and always had an upbeat and uplifting attitude. She also loved visiting with her many friends. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and Bethany Lutheran Church.
Cherie is survived by three children: Peggy (Tim) Nord of Red Lake Falls, MN, Tammy (Mike) Nord of Dannebrog, NE and Michael (Shannon) Walters of Lonsdale, MN; grandchildren: Jennifer, Andrew, and Hannah Nord, Samantha, Brandon, Justin, Dylan, and Matthew Nord, and Christopher and Jonathan Walters; her mother, Alyce Sevre of St. Hilaire, MN; sisters: Donna (Paul Salentiny) Peterson of Edinburg, ND, Bonnie (Bob Seibel) Pederson of Cohasset, MN and Darlene (Bob) Valley of Red Lake Falls, MN; eleven nieces and nephews; and many great nieces, nephews and cousins; and her very special friend, Kathy Solem of East Grand Forks, MN and a loving and caring aunt, Grace Ortloff, Thief River Falls, MN.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glen; and brother-in-law, Wayne Peterson; and one great nephew, Grant Beck.
