Cheryl Lynn Voecks, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at her residence in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on January 14, 2026, with her loving husband, Terry, by her side. She was born on July 26, 1958, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, the daughter of Carroll and Nancy (Mathisen) Buck. Cheryl was baptized on August 31, 1958, marking the beginning of a life filled with kindness and warmth. Cheryl graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls with the class of 1976.
On September 22, 1979, Cheryl was united in marriage to Terry Voecks and this union was blessed with a wonderful son, Cory. The family made their home in Thief River Falls.
She embarked on a professional journey that began at Florence Café and Northland Foods, but it was her tenure at K-Mart from 1978 to 1994, and subsequently at Digi-Key from 1994 until her retirement in 2022, where she truly made her mark. Cheryl was known for her kind and welcoming demeanor, making each workplace a better environment for her colleagues.
Outside of her professional life, Cheryl had a passion for flower gardening, decorating for the holidays, shopping, and traveling. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family and grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by those who knew and loved her.
Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband, Terry, her son Cory Voecks, and her grandchildren: Caleb and Jackie. She leaves behind her siblings, Kathy Meyer, Susan (Glenn) Meyer, and Mark Buck.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents and her parents, Carroll and Nancy. As we remember Cheryl Voecks, we celebrate a woman whose life was marked by love, generosity, strength, and a spirit that touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know her.
Cheryl’s Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Stephanie White officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service.
