The graveside service to celebrate Chris's life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Silver Creek Cemetery near Clementson, MN with military honors provided by the Baudette Ceremonial Squad and United States Air Force Honor Guard.
Chris Dillman was born December 7, 1965 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha, WI and raised by his grandparents, George and Christine (Hofer) Dillman. He was baptized in the river as a Baptist in Baudette, MN. He attended the Border School and graduated from Indus High School on May 25, 1984.
The day after graduation, Chris was united in marriage to Karen Ann Eberhart in Baudette. To this union three children were born, Allissa, Christopher and Luke. The family settled on the Dillman family farm near Clementson, MN.
Chris worked at Marvin Windows in Warroad, MN for a short time before enlisting into service with the United States Air Force. Following his active duty service from March 25, 1986 until March 24, 1992, Chris was Honorably Discharged and then re-enlisted with the United States Army Reserve. Following military duty, Chris worked at Solvay Pharmaceuticals, delivered mail for the United States Postal Service and worked at the Holiday Gas Station in Baudette to provide for his family.
To further his education, Chris attended college at Lake Superior Technical College in Superior, WI where he earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in December of 2010. While attending college, he worked at the Sheraton Hotel in Duluth. Chris moved to Thief River Falls where he went to work at Digi-Key as a Product Manager and later moved to the technical support as an Application Engineer. He was scheduled to begin his new position at Digi-Key on Monday as an "RMT."
Throughout his working career, Chris always took great pride in his work and always found time to volunteer in the community to pay it forward. Through the Digi-Key Cares Program he enjoyed volunteering at the Heritage Center, Oakland Park Communities, Pioneer Village and cookouts. He was a very passionate "sugar slinger" for Digi-Key in the parades.
In February of 2017, Chris met his soul-mate, Robin Brown and the couple has been inseparable ever since. Together they enjoyed camping, hiking, kayaking and being together. They closed on their home on December 27, 2019 and settled in Warren, MN.
He treated people with respect, had a great sense of humor, saw the positive in people and brought out the good in everybody who was blessed to be near him. Chris could be described as persistent, stubborn, passionate, old-fashioned, sensible and was a tender loving caring teddy bear with Robin.
Survivors include his soul-mate, Robin Brown; children, Allissa (Mark) Cookston and their son Jack, Christopher and Luke (Leetha Nicole); siblings, Da'one, Tim and Kim; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; sister, Barbie; and brother, Shawn.
